Just needs a bass line.

This is quite silly, which is both good and appropriate. It just needs some low-end goodness and it's finished. :D

Shiverwar responds:

Thanks, man! XD

Here's an idea!

This song is crazy awesome. :D

As for a song title?

"Colon Dee".

:D

Shiverwar responds:

Colon Dee, huh? Well, it IS a random idea, so it's a pretty fitting name! Thanks again, Josh!

'Epic' doesn't do this arrangement justice.

I thought my marching arrangement was great, but your orchestration, combined with simple yet effective percussion, is... it's the shit.

You did good, kid. Real good. :D

Shiverwar responds:

Thanks for the awesome review, man! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Some volume balance issues, but good overall.

This is much, much better than the previous submission I heard. Still missing percussion, but that's okay.

In any case, there should be more volume output from the choir and I think the strings may have to come down a bit in some places. Otherwise, it's gold. :D

Shiverwar responds:

The percussion is sorta in there... XD I agree though. There should be more volume balances and more noticable drums, but thanks for the kind review. And please check out my most recent Zelda submission (orchestrated one)

I like it.

There's nothing much more to say about this mix. The missing *wark* is a bit of a letdown, but I don't think the soundfont includes any of the SFX.

Shiverwar responds:

I doubt the older soundfont includes it (as well as the more recent one you linked to me), but who wouldn't love this song? Thanks, Josh!

Very good.

It's just missing some percussion. I reccommend doing something other than what's in the original, but that's because I'm that kind of arranger.

Other than that, this is a very good mix.

Shiverwar responds:

I didn't know you reviewed this one! Anyways, I didn't know the drum pattern (kinda off from what you said) and I don'r know what dru-- oh... wait! I have the percussion in teh soundfont you linked to me! I'll figure something out :D Thanks!

I like it, but...

There are a good chunk of incorrect notes. In some ways, the resulting cacophony helps, but at other points it seems really out of place.

Some other percussion coupled with the snare drum would round out the mix rather well.

Overall, I like where this one's going. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's nothing a bit of work can't fix.

Shiverwar responds:

I used tabs for this one, so some of the notes are going to be incorrect. FOr instance, the notes after the first, what is it, 4 seconds, were on the tabs I had. I tried to find the correct notes, but I had no luck. I will try to make it better though. Thanks for your review, and the soundfont.

Never thought I'd see the day...

...when something else from Symphony of the Night would be on the NG Audio Portal. Very good job, man.

Some may say the epic-ness is dead, but I think your interpretation retains much of the original epic feeling.

Chao-Guy responds:

I can see where other people are comming from though; orchestral songs arn't my forte. Still, as long as people like it, it may encourage more skilled artists to take a stab at it.
Glad you liked it,

Keep it up!!

I like it, and evidently so did the SFB.

Very nicely done, AA. It works very well for what it is -- a BGM track.

I'm really digging the sustain on the strings. They build very nice tension. The harp adds an element of confusion. And the piano in the background adding hits adds even more to the tension.

Overall, a very nice track.

P.S.: I figure I owe ya' a couple of reviews on your work, since you've reviewed mine so long ago. I'm really slow getting on top of reviewing. :P

TheAmateurAnimator responds:

Whoa, I didn't expect the SFB to use my piece, and I didn't expect a review from you. Thanks for all the praise!

There's a few issues, but a good mix nonetheless.

I like the melodies of this mix. I think the opening synth was fine. I'm really not sure what would fit there better, so I think it's fine as-is.

I couldn't hear what instrument you were using for a snare/clap. That thing was too low to be heard. You can feel when it comes in, but the ears feel betrayed. If you can tweak your percussion instruments, perhaps you might try upping the pitch on the snare/clap a tone or two.

Very good mix, though, so no worries there. More people should definitely listen to your music.

F-777 responds:

I agree percussion wasn't properly set =P. Thanks so much for the awesome review!
